Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Posted by ObsidianSnow - December 12th, 2013

If you were thinking David Bowie when you read that title, you'd be correct.

ANYWAY so there's something I've been thinking about for a few years now, debating whether I should do it, whether it would be worth the switch... but I've finally decided to give it a go.

I'm going to start using a new artist name online.

Don't worry! I'll still exist as Obsidian Snow across the web, but I'm going to focus down on genres and themes. As Obsidian Snow, I will continue to post my more serious pieces - all those piano solos and orchestral work (recently got EWQL working for me at last, so you can expect I'll be playing with that soon ;D ) will still be posted on this page and all the other pages under that name. The new name will be for posting my blisstronica, crazy experiments, and possibly some future vocal/accoustic work.

I'm pretty excited about this. I've even already registered the domain for what will be my new website when I get around to building it.

The new name? It's Cat Meets Keys.

Cheers,

Well, it's certainly different, I'll give you that. But difference and innovation are what lead to legends! :D

'Obsidian Snow' is a magnificent name, may I add. I wish I had thought of a mega alias like that, instead of thinking of a random Runescape track that I loved back when I actually played the game (Animal Apogee it's called, haha) and then thinking of another track that was, at the time, emblazoned into my brain ('Potent Cloud' by a UK producer named 'Skream'). I just combined the two and voila, here I am. :P

Anyway, I might as well check out your audio works, friend, instead of commenting endlessly over here. Take care now!

If I remember at all correctly, I was thinking of an atmosphere when I came up with Obsidian Snow - it was the entirely imaginary idea of a post-volcanic landscape and it's surroundings, with falling crystals of obsidian so small, that they seemed to float to the ground. Snow, and yet everything that snow is not - not wet, not cold, not melting, not white... it was about that image, and how unsettling or calming it could be, depending on your perspective.

I don't think I remember that track from my runescape days. Then again, that was about 10 years ago, so...

Anyways, thanks. I hope you find something you like. :D

Oh yeah, 'Animal Apogee' was from when a new skill, Summoning, came into into RS (so much later.)
I found the game around 2004 / 2005 time. Memories. :D

Take care...again. :P
