Re: Posting Music on NG

Posted by ObsidianSnow - July 22nd, 2011

I've become rather tired of posting anything here on NG. Music is rarely appreciated properly here, and I find that the audience usually isn't the one I'd like to be getting at.

Not entirely certain what I'm trying to imply here, I have no concrete plans of moving... but I do want to find a new place with a different audience. I feel like my music has no voice here, nor does just about anyone who doesn't write excessive dubstep, trance or the occasional epic orchestral.

It's got about the same effect radius as this post, really. Perhaps a couple people will see this. Essentially none of them will care. And NG will continue to roll.

That is all.

It's a shame, really. The audio portal front page isn't exactly made to show alot of people's music, rather only the popular ones.

Agreed. The AP has far more content uploaded to it each day than the FP, yet the AP gets just as little in terms of recognition. So little content actually gets noticed, and with the way the current system works, the 0-bombers put any AP content that isn't constantly upvoted by the uploader on a permanent back shelf status.

I did try a few of your tracks, and really they seem more appropriate for film ambiance, as opposed to something I would download and stick on my iPod. Perhaps you should start advertising yourself as someone willing to make custom background music for films and video games?

Really, any music on Newgrounds can get the attention it deserves, it's just that it's easier to get that attention if your song is something the average youth is listening to. Trance and Dubstep have an advantage over rock and pop though, because sometimes it's hard listening to an amateur singer/songwriter.

Best of luck with your tunes. I hope you find your audience someday.

Then what's the point of posting? If you want to get your music out there, get the fuck off the internet and go outside and play it. All online music communities are worthless.

The point of posting was more out of a need to satisfy my own mild frustration than a need to advertise.

A rather strongly voiced opinion, but I suspect that you're right on some level.

Im assuming the redesign might help with this but who knows

We'll see, but somehow I doubt it'll make things a hell of a lot better for the AP.

I liked your song Pseudonym, but don't get bent out of shape because your music got overlooked.
